“My name is Bernard. I live with epilepsy. I was a busy professional and self-professed “workaholic” in the prime of my life when I suddenly began experiencing seizures. I sustained a head injury during the post-election skirmishes in Kenya following the disputed 2007 elections. The impact from a blunt object caused trauma to my head. I was left with a fractured skull. After experiencing several tonic-clonic seizures, including two in front of clients at work, l was diagnosed with epilepsy. Following prolonged hospital stay in critical condition at Kenyatta National Hospital, I was prescribed medication that initially controlled my seizures.”

Bernard vividly describes his experience with focal seizures, detailing how they feel internally and appear externally. The visible stitches on his head serve as a poignant reminder of the violence he endured. Despite occasionally experiencing frequent seizures, he remains resilient. Bernard is a dedicated family man, a father, and a grandfather. He is also a professional graphic designer. You can support his business by reaching out to micodilgraphics@gmail.com.
